Enjoy a glass of award-winning wine or taste a prized extra virgin olive oil at The Marketplace, which spotlights the winners of the Los Angeles International Wine, Spirits, EVOO and Dairy Competitions.
Did you know the LA County Fair has one of the Fair industry’s oldest wine competitions in the world? The Fair began its wine competition in 1935, showcasing the best of North and South American Wines. Eventually, entries were accepted from around the globe, and the Fair began to offer tastings of medal winners to the public when it opened its wine education program in 1968, now housed in The Marketplace. The Fair’s wine competition, the Los Angeles International Wine Competition, is held annually along with the Spirits, Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Dairy competitions just prior to the Fair.
The Fair’s wine education program continues today – as robust and vibrant as the perfect glass of cabernet. It includes education classes taught by some of the industry’s biggest names and offers tastings at The Marketplace’s wine bar. Classes featuring Spirits, EVOO and Dairy medal winners are also offered. The Marketplace is also home to the Olive Oil store, where Fairguests can pick up a bottle of an award-winning oil.
For all oenophiles and gourmets, amateur or professional, The Marketplace is the place to be at the LA County Fair.
Enjoy a wine class taught by an industry professional on region, varietals, what’s on trend in the industry and all paired with cheese. Some classes may include extra virgin olive oil or daily products from the Los Angeles International Competitions. Classes can be purchased online.
The Marketplace’s wine bar offers many varietals of wine by the taste and by the glass.
