The L.A. County Fair introduces a new attraction this year: “GENUIS – A Celebration of American Innovation.” Honoring America’s rich history of intellectual accomplishments, GENIUS is comprised of nearly 50 influential intellectuals from America’s past. |
The George Washington Carver Gallery focuses on Carver’s achievements as a scientist and educator. Discover how Carver turned everyday household items into sophisticated scientific apparatuses. No George Washington Carver exhibit would be complete without the various discoveries he made from peanuts, soybeans and everyday plants. Guests can plant a peanut hydroponically (without soil) in a bag of moist cotton balls and take it home. Learn how Henry Ford, the proclaimed “Father of the Industrial Age,” put America on wheels. A half a dozen restored Model Ts next to a simulated Ford Motor Company factory wall help bring this reenactment to life. This gallery also features an interactive portion in which guests can participate directly in an assembly line. The Inventors Walk of Fame features 40 inventors, including Earl Dickson, inventor of the modern Band Aid; Pedro Flores, inventor of the Yo-Yo; and Temple Grandin, inventor of a hug machine for Autism therapy. |
