Education & Community

The Los Angeles County Fair Association exists as a not-for-profit organization to benefit the local community and invest in its future opportunities.

Community Giving

donationFairplex donates more than $400,000 in cash and in-kind contributions to local organizations such as Cal Poly Foundation, Casa Colina Foundation, Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center Foundation and many others. Fairplex also donates more than $1.5 million in Fair tickets to local students who attend the L.A. County Fair FairKids Field Trips. As an active member of the community, Fairplex is committed to extending its hand in service and encouraging its employees to do the same.

Volunteer Program

"You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.” Fairplex volunteers truly make Winston Churchill’s words come to life. Our volunteer program saw a surge in participants and hours worked in 2011. The 150 L.A. County Fair volunteers – ranging from college students to senior citizens – donated 8,031 hours of their time, nearly 2,000 more than the previous year, assisting with the 137,413 school children in the FairKids Field Trips and acting as docents in the Millard Sheets Center for the Arts. The Fairplex Garden Railroad crew gave an additional 8,652 hours during the year, maintaining the popular G-gauge railroad.

The Learning Centers
at Fairplex

Each year, The Learning Centers at Fairplex strive to bring high quality, interactive, accessible education opportunities to people of all ages – instilling a desire for lifelong learning on the Fairplex campus. In 2011, we made tremendous strides, each growing and reaching more members of the community.

Community Benefit Car Raffle

For the past several years, The Learning Centers at Fairplex and the Rotary Club of Pomona have partnered together to host a Community Benefit Raffle during the L.A. County Fair. This successful raffle has raised more than $200,000 for the educational programs at Fairplex and the service efforts supported by Rotary Club of Pomona, as well as more than 50 other local community organizations.

in 2012, the Grand Prize winner will have their choice between a 1968 Corvette Convertible or a new 2012 Toyota Tacoma.

Community organizations and groups are also invited to sell tickets as a fundraiser - $5 of each ticket sold goes directly back to the selling organization, and those groups that are most successful with pre-sales are invited to sell tickets during a day at the Fair. Contact Laura Gallardo at (909) 865-4206 or gallardo@fairplex.com for more information.

Congratulations to this year's winners:

1st place – winner of the car: Phil & Esther Ruiz, Chino Hills
2nd place – Alaskan cruise: Ramona Shumate, Pomona
3rd place - $1,000 gas card: Dottie Leveque, Upland
