Pure.Giving.

The Los Angeles County Fair Association exists as a not-for-profit organization to benefit the local community and invest in its future opportunities.

Community Giving

Fairplex donates more than $400,000 in cash and in-kind contributions to local organizations such as Cal Poly Foundation, Casa Colina Foundation, Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center Foundation and many others. Fairplex also donates more than $1.5 million in Fair tickets to local students who attend the L.A. County Fair FairKids Discovery Club Field Trips. As an active member of the community, Fairplex is committed to extending its hand in service and encouraging its employees to do the same.

Volunteer Program

"You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.” Fairplex volunteers truly make Winston Churchill’s words come to life. Our volunteer program saw a surge in participants and hours worked in 2008. The 427 L.A. County Fair volunteers – ranging from college students to senior citizens - donated 8,031 hours of their time, nearly 2,000 more than the previous year, assisting with the 103,000 school children in the FairKids Discovery Club Field Trips and acting as docents in the Millard Sheets Center for the Arts. The Fairplex Garden Railroad crew gave an additional 8,652 hours during the year, maintaining the popular G-gauge railroad.

The Learning Centers at Fairplex

Each year The Learning Centers at Fairplex strive to bring high quality, interactive, accessible education opportunities to people of all ages – instilling a desire for lifelong learning. In 2009, we made tremendous strides, each growing and reaching more members of the community

Classic Car Raffle

For the past several years, The Learning Centers at Fairplex and the Rotary Club of Pomona have partnered together to give away a fully restored classic car during the L.A. County Fair.  This successful raffle has raised more than $200,000 for the educational programs at Fairplex and the community efforts supported by Rotary Club of Pomona, as well as more than 50 other community organizations.

Here's how you can get involved:
1) Sign up your non-profit organization to sell tickets and fundraise!

Local charitable and service organizations are invited to partner in a no-risk fundraising opportunity by selling tickets.  $5.00 of every $20.00 raffle ticket goes directly back to the selling organization.  Organizations that sell pre-sale tickets will have also priority consideration to staff the raffle booth for 4-hour shifts during the Fair (sellers will receive complimentary Fair admission and parking tickets).

2) Buy raffle tickets!

Tickets are available now for sale!  Raffle drawings will be conducted at The Learning Centers at Fairplex/Pomona Rotary raffle booth at 7:00 pm on Sunday, October 3, the last day of the Fair.  Winners do NOT have to be present at the drawing to win.

To request tickets or to participate as a selling organization, contact Laura Smolka at (909) 865-4206.

BONUS!

All tickets sold prior to the start of the 2010 L.A. County Fair will be eligible for a special bonus pre-drawing, to be held on the opening day, Saturday, September 4, at 11:00 a.m. The winner will receive a $500 check and the ticket returned to the hopper, fully eligible for the main drawing. The real bonus is that the non-profit organization that sold the ticket will also receive a $500 check!
