Did you know that each year hundreds of people enter into the contests and competitions that are held in the Village on Broadway? This area is like the “American Idol” for Culinary Creations and Home Décor, and 2009 will be no exception!

In fact, the lineup we have this year is bound to knock your socks off! But don’t worry… in Tapestry we’ll teach you how to knit new ones.

September 5th – September 7th
Celebrate Labor Day weekend with us and not only take part in the ultimate picnic, but learn how to createone yourself! In Culinary Styles, our Chefs will explore all the wonderful creations that fit perfectly into baskets & coolers or on the BBQ! From ultimate picnic salads, entrées, and desserts to the BBQ Contest and Chili Cook-Off, this weekend is all about outdoor gathering!

Tapestry

Speaking of the outdoors… step into a world where colors rule, tablescaping is for everyone, and decorating is easy! Welcome to Tapestry! Our demonstrators will be celebrating Labor Day by showing you how to create the perfect outdoor atmosphere for your picnic. From baskets and décor to tablescapes or blanketscapes, you’ll have everything you need to create the ultimate picnic all on your own.

It’s a Spring Thing!
September 9th – September 13th
We know it’s only September, but this week in The Village on Broadway, we are feeling nothing but the cool weather of spring! In Tapestry we are diving right into tablescapes that are inspired by spring time brunches and the fresh colors that only appear after a good rain.

Culinary Styles is also cooking up spring time fun! Sit back and enjoy as the masters of the kitchen take over and show you how to make some of your favorite spring foods. You’ll be amazed at the menu! Deviled eggs and cheesecake are just the beginning because on September 12th it’s All About Muffins! There is no need to gather eggs this spring… join us and you can gather tips for your kitchen and home instead!

Fall into Autumn!
September 16th – 20th
The trees are changing and the once green leaves are turning into beautiful shades of almond, rust, and even chocolate! Did I just mention chocolate?! As luck would have it, this week in Culinary Styles we are celebrating Autumn with Chocolate Delights including the Ghirardelli Chocolate Contest, the Chocolate Chip & Brownie Contest, and many more! The kitchen will also be teaching the wonders of warm soups and baked foods for your learning pleasure!

As the weather turns colder you’ll want to visit the knitting lounge in Tapestry. Here you can learn to knit anything your heart desires! This week in Tapestry, fashion is on the forefront and warmth is number one. So join us and learn how to make your home, table, closet, and kitchen Autumn ready!

Ring in the Holidays!
September 23rd - September 27th
Not ready for the holidays? Don’t fret, there is still plenty of time and The Village on Broadway has just what you need! Get in the spirit of the season and discover the joy of decorating your home for the holidays in Tapestry. Holiday home décor has never been so easy or exciting. From outdoor décor to the perfect holiday table, our demonstrators will be able to show you the most current trends and answer any questions you may have.

For many of us, the best part about the holidays is the food, and the Fair is no exception. This week in Culinary Styles we have holidays on the mind and on the menu. These demonstrations are sure to tickle your taste buds and dazzle your senses! In fact, you can even learn to make cookies to use as decorations on your Christmas tree. Yes, you read that correctly! Join us on September 23rd and learn how to make Edible Christmas tree decorations…and the fun doesn’t stop there!

Halloween is just around the corner, and the best place to get Halloween tips and tricks is in The Village on Broadway! A pumpkin isn’t just a pumpkin in our Culinary Kitchen! This week our ghoulish masters will share the wonders of this versatile gourd.
