 A great place to relax, enjoy the ambiance, learn about award-wines, olive oil, cheese,

ice cream and beer; sip some of the winning wines and shop in the Crushed Grape. Fair visitors can become wine connoisseurs with several wine education programs offered each day of the Fair.

The program features over fifty seminars including wine tasting, extra virgin olive oil, tequila tasting and cooking demonstrations. The 2008 Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Competition winners will be available for tasting, including elite Platinum award competition winners also featured for consumers in Ralphs grocery stores.

Guests can experience some extraordinary domestic and international vintages, complemented by a spot of lunch in Marketplace Café. The Marketplace is located next to the Flower & Garden Pavilion. Cooking classes taught by well-known local chefs are also slated. Check Daily Fun Guide for listing of classes. Guests can also enjoy a beer at the Beer Tavern serving winning brews from the Fair’s commercial beer competition and some delectable food from the Marketplace. This is a great spot to be wine-stimulated and educated, to shop, dine and enjoy.

Competitions

Welcome to the 2008 Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Competition (formerly Los Angeles County Fair Wines of the World Competition). For 67 years, our competition has showcased the finest vintages from countries throughout the world, and illustrated time and again why this wine competition is considered one of the most prestigious. Our new name enhances a rich history and helps to further strengthen the competition with greater consumer outreach.

Seminars

Taste over 300 Gold Medal Winning Wines selected from 3,789 wine entries.  View more the 2,000 international wine, tequila and extra virgin olive oil winners.  Learn about wine, spirits and olive oil in our Wine Education program.  Each class features a minimum of six wines and each participant will receive a tasting ticket for a taste of a Gold Medal Winner at the International Tasting Bar.  The cost to participate is $17.00 per class, $8.00 for Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Food Demonstrations are free.

Beer Tavern

Guests can also enjoy beer sampling at the Beer Tavern serving winning brews from the Fair’s commercial beer competition and some delectable food from the Marketplace. This is a great spot to be wine-stimulated and educated, to shop, dine and enjoy.

Spirits

The award-winning tequilas are on display and tequila seminars will be offered. Learn the basics of tequila, the characteristics, ageing, how to make the perfect margarita!
